Hi-tech Development Area is 8km from Tianjin Port, the second largest port in China.

Tianjin Binhai International Airport is 36km from the Hi-tech Development Area and 20-minute drive on Jin-Bin Superhighway. The Airport is the second largest international airport in North China. There are now 59 international and domestic airlines to 30 main cities such as Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Xiamen and Hong Kong and many international cities such as Seoul, Kyiv, Nagoya and Osaka. The annual passenger throughput reaches over two million person trips and the cargo throughput reaches 200,000 tons.

Beijing Capital International Airport is 180km from Hi-tech Development Area and it takes 90 minutes' drive on Jing-Jin-Tang Expressway.

Hi-tech Development Area has smooth road networks. Jing-Jin-Tang Expressway, Tang-Jin Expressway, Jin-Shan Expressway, Tanggu Middle Ring and Tanggu Outer Ring and other main highways go across the Area. Jin-Bin Expressway, Jing-Jin-Tang Expressway No. 2 Line, Jin-Jin Expressway and Jin-Hu Expressway are around the Hi-tech Development Area.

Jing-Jin-Tang Expressway: Tanggu Exit is in Hi-tech Development Area. It takes 30 minutes' drive to Tianjin and 90 minutes' drive to Beijing.

Jing-Jin-Tang Expressway No. 2 Line: Tanggu Exit is 2km from Hi-tech Development Area and leads to Beijing Airport directly.

Jin-Shan Expressway: Tanggu Exit is in Hi-tech Development Area. The Exit is directly connected to Middle Ring and leads to Tanggu Urban district.

Jin-Bin Superhighway: 2km from Hi-tech Development Area. It takes about 30 minutes' drive to Tianjin.

Beijing-Qinhuangdao express railway goes across the Area. Binhai Station is planed to be established in Hi-tech Development Area. Hi-tech Development Area is adjacent to Beijing-Shanghai railway. Beijing-Harbin railway is 6km from Hi-tech Development Area. Transportation of both passengers and goods is convenient for reaching all regions throughout the country and extending to Europe.

Tanggu Railway Station: 6km from Hi-tech Development Area.

Tianjin Train Station: 50km from Hi-tech Development Area. It is the joint of the two large railway arteries of Beijing-Shanghai railway and Beijing-Harbin railway. It is located on the six big main railway lines throughout the country (Beijing-Shanghai, Beijing-Harbin, Beijing-Guangzhou, Beijing-Baotou, Datong-Qinhuangdao and Beijing-Jiulong).

Jin-Bin Light Rail and Jing-Jin Intercity Railway connect Tianjin and Beijing at high speed.

Jin-Bin Light Rail: 4km from Hi-tech Development Area. It starts from Zhongshanmen, Tianjin in the west (to be extended to Tianjin Station in 2010) to TEDA International Convention And Exhibition Center in the east, 46km in total length.

Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway: It is 120km long and is the first worldly first-class high-speed railway in china. The domestic CRH2 and CRH3 motor trains for this railway have the maximum speed is 350km per hour. When the line is put into operation, it adopts the transportation and organization mode of intercity train combined with over-line train. The minimum interval is 5 minutes. Now, this line has extended to Binhai New Area.

Tanggu Marine Hi-tech Development Area takes full advantages of Binhai New Area's functional advantages in seaport, airport and free trade zone to accelerate construction of logistics center and continuously improve the foreign services and radiating capacity.

Tianjin Port has over 140 berths and an annual throughput of over 300,000,000 tons. It is the access way of North China, Northwest China, and central plain area and over ten provinces and cities and the bridgehead of Eurasian Continent. It has established business relations with more than 400 ports from 180 countries.

Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone is the first international logistics center with both "seaport" and "airport" in China and has established trading relationship with more than 100 countries and regions. It is the green channel for import and export of Tianjin, Beijing and surrounding areas.

In August, 2001, main organs of Tianjin Customs were moved to Binhai New Area, which made the customs declaration become more convenient. TEDA Customs has concluded and signed official customs transfer agreement with Tianjin Airport Customs and Beijing Airport Customs. Goods by air may be declared directly in TEDA: imported materials and parts may be transported to TEDA directly before customs declaration; exported products may be loaded in airplane after shipping and customs declaration in TEDA. For large import and export enterprises, TEDA Customs may provide "Green Channel" customs declaration convenience as case may be.
